Building 2 is a single story 9,358 square foot building. The intent of this project is to focus efforts on upgrading the interior finishes of the facility: paint all interior surfaces, replace interior lighting, ceiling tiles, flooring, install partition walls and doors, remodel all restrooms, replace and upgrade existing wooden paneling system in Commanding Officer’s office, Senior Enlisted Office, and conference room, and replace a portion of the existing HVAC system.

290 Design Build B401 Upgrade Storage Space, Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, CA
Phibcor 401 is a 3-story reinforced concrete structure, built circa 1960. Scope of work area is in a 1-story portion of the building. Second floor roof access transits through a different command’s OSS area. Project includes all work to provide PHIBCOR 401 with code compliance repairs to permit follow-on functional facility upgrades to serve the Naval Reserve San Diego Center of Excellence (COE) that will be used to train Marine Reservists.
Base Work: Project will correct life safety deficiencies in PHIBCOR 401 to support Marine Reservist training requirements. Project includes all work to provide command with UFC and code compliant mission battery storage and charging area to prevent runaway lithium fire from mission batteries. Battery storage containment shall be relocated on the 1st floor and shall be provided with fire-rated barrier, compartments, signage, mechanical air supply and exhaust, emergency eyewash, fire sprinklers, fire alarm support, lighting, and electrical support per NFPA 855 and UFC 3-520-05. Battery storage and charging room must comply with NFPA 855, Ch 14 requirements. DOAS mechanical work shall provide COE scope of work spaces with adequate ventilation.
OPTION 1: Project shall replace PHIBCOR 401 existing fire alarm system for whole building, with non-proprietary system.
OPTION 2: Provide PHIBCOR 401 fire sprinklers for COE scope spaces and 1st floor corridors. Provide fire-rated corridors per Part 6 Passive Fire Protection Concept.
OPTION 3: Project includes all work to upgrade COE portion of PHIBCOR 401, consisting of approximately 8,135 SF of storage, assembly and business occupancies to Open Secret Storage (OSS).
This option includes all mechanical and electrical work to meet the functional demands of the customer. Functional intent is to power approx. 135 thin client laptops, 490 existing laptops, 65 existing desktop computers, 280 new monitors/65 old monitors.

289 Design Build C5 Restoration, Naval Medical Center, San Diego, CA
The north clinic (Building 3N) is a 175,841 square foot, four-story structure located in Navy Medical Center, Balboa hospital in San Diego CA. It was built in 1987 and has been utilized as an ambulatory clinic for the Naval Medical Center San Diego. The east end, ground level of Block M in building 3 is a one-story building separated by the main building by a seismic joint. The building was constructed as a therapy pool with male and female locker rooms, toilets, and showers. In 2013, the therapy pool was filled in (including a 4” thick concrete floor slab and epoxy flooring over compacted gravel fill) the Comprehensive Combat and Complex Casualty Care unit (C5) and Prosthetics Physical Therapy (PT) Lab currently utilize this space.

The Fleet Recreation Center, at NAVSTA Everett in Everett is a multi-functional facility providing food service, grab and go food service, dining, laundry facilities, entertainment activities, and a training room area. The facility is a modular structure that has had several additions over the years as new functions were added to the building. The project scope of work includes full architectural, structural, food service, MEPF, and Life Safety of the existing 5,184 square feet facility including decks and new accessibility ramp to meet the functional requirements of the Fleet Recreation Center.
The Fleet Recreation Center, at NAVBASE Kitsap in Bremerton, WA is a multi-functional facility providing coffee bar, made to order food service, grab and go food service, dining area, laundry facilities, entertainment activities, and a training room area. The facility is a concrete structure in good repair, the systems are dated and require updating to meet current building code and design standards. There is a need for an addition to the space that will add externally accessible restrooms and an expansion of the existing atrium space. A major repair of the facility will address short comings in mechanical systems, security systems, fire protection, life safety, functional efficiency and provide more enhanced spaces to accommodate sailors in the future. The project scope of work includes full architectural, structural, food service, MEPF, and Life Safety of the existing 5,560 square feet facility The combined additions of external restrooms and atrium addition are approximately 850 square feet (15% increase).

Project includes all design and construction activities to renovate NAB 320 Student Barracks/Unaccompanied housing to an acceptable condition, as facility is plagued by various moisture related issues. Work includes various exterior and site regrading repairs to address moisture intrusion issues at root cause. Work includes various interior repairs to address mold and moisture issues caused by poor closet ventilation, resident use and exterior water penetration through existing CMU block walls. Project replaces first floor interior finishes that are bubbling due to slab moisture. Project includes shower pan and valve replacement in berthing units. (70 berthing units in project: 4 ABA rooms and 66 standard rooms). Exterior stair repairs will provide slip resistant treads with contrasting color strips and replace all lights in the exterior stairwells with new LED lights with photo sensors.

The project will ensure that building 466 is equipped with an operable and efficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. The new HVAC system should maintain high-quality indoor environmental conditions. The building’s structure must support the additional weight of the new HVAC equipment without compromising its structural integrity. A new, warrantable roof will be installed, meeting all applicable standards and codes and the upgraded electrical system shall provide sufficient capacity to handle the building’s current load the new HVAC equipment.
