The project scope was to design and construct a Certified Pistol Range (50 yards in length and 25 Shooting Lanes), and Administration and Training Facilities to support the new range and the existing Rifle Range. All facilities were built to be sustainable, non-combustible, permanent construction to have a life expectancy of a minimum of 20 years. Design features included slab on grade, masonry walls, metal roofing, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, day lighting, concrete walkways, vandal-resistant and sound rated doors and windows. Additionally, a 10,000-gallon water tank and hydrant was provided for fire protection of these structures. Project also included grading, erosion control, impact and sight berms, site improvements, parking, site utilities and anti-terrorism/force protection.
This project was constructed in East Miramar without the support of utilities normally provided by the Government. No water and very limited electricity was available. All water for earthwork, concrete finishing and clean up was trucked in and stored on site. Electricity was not available to a large portion of it.
