245 Design/Build Repair Auto Org Shop 1816, 29 Palms, CA

November 18, 2015 by Lauren Zimmermann

2014 – 2016

Building 1816 is a tilt-up concrete building constructed in 1981 as an organizational maintenance facility for various Marine Corps tactical units stationed at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC). The facility supports the mission of MCAGCC by providing tactical vehicle maintenance to units training at the Center.

Building 1816 has not had a significant renovation or improvement project since constructed in 1981. The lack of improvements has led to deterioration of interior finishes, lighting, power, toilet facilities, and maintenance work areas. The roof and windows leak. The conditions have affected the quality of work of organization personnel. The personnel have been forced to overcome the lack of adequate and safe power. The renovations to Building 1816 will correct the deficiencies noted. The renovation work includes: repairing the roof; replacing the roof over the West wing of the building including replacement of flex conduit on roof, remove, cap and seal unused roof penetrations. Exterior man doors and roll-up doors will be replaced. Interior doors will be replaced with fire rated doors as required by code. Interiors will be painted. Floor finishes will be replaced. Interior doors will be refinished or replaced. Windows will be replaced and safety glazing provided in new windows.
